Winding past the towering pines, meandering creeks and rolling greens of Reno’s premier master-planned community, Montrêux Golf & Country Club is a private, 18-hole masterpiece. Add to that the fact that it’s the only Jack Nicklaus Signature Design Course in northern Nevada, and it’s no small wonder that in 2006, Golf Digest ranked Montrêux as one of the state’s top three golf courses. In 2003, Golfweek declared Montrêux among the “Top 100 Golf Communities in America,” and it also enjoys the distinction of hosting the PGA Tour’s Reno-Tahoe Open.
Nicklaus himself designates the course as one of his top five designs and it’s certainly easy to see why. The par-72 course traverses 7,472 yards, artfully incorporating approximately 70 sand bunkers, strategic elevation drops, expansive greens and water features including waterfalls, lakes and creeks. The 19th hole was personally designed by LPGA Hall of Famer Patty Sheehan.
The Montrêux golf complex also includes a 400-yard practice facility featuring six target greens, a chipping and putting green, three practice holes and a private, French Country Manor-style clubhouse. Sprawling across 34,000 square feet, the clubhouse has three separate dining rooms, luxurious locker rooms, a member’s grill and lounge, a wine cellar and a pro shop staffed by PGA professionals.
